About Abbeyfield

Our History

Abbeyfield's journey began in 1956, ignited by Richard Carr-Gomm's vision to create supportive communities that combat loneliness among older adults. His pioneering spirit led to the opening of the first Abbeyfield house that same year, laying the foundation for a legacy of care and companionship. Over the decades, Abbeyfield has grown into a network of vibrant communities, each dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for seniors across the globe.
