Geraldine Gilpin

Geraldine has undertaken various roles within the Abbeyfield movement since 1996, initially as  Regional Co-ordinator in Northern Ireland. From 2003 she was Chief Executive of the new society created following the merger of 15 of the 17 societies in the region,  which then merged with another housing association in 2013 to form Abbeyfield & Wesley Following her retirement as Chief Executive in 2023 she continued her involvement through representing Northern Ireland on the World Council and as a trustee of Abbeyfield England.

 

She studied law and the accountancy and has wide experience of the charity sector, negotiating mergers, strategic planning and developing and managing a large Abbeyfield Society.  

 

Throughout her career, Geraldine has championed older people, ensuring their voice is heard and with a particular interest in dementia and retaining community connections.
