Discover Abbeyfield
In 1956, Richard Carr-Gomm, an Englishman concerned about the loneliness and isolation of older people, decided to take positive action and purchased a small house where they could live together within their community.
Today, Abbeyfield has over 400 homes in 11 countries, supporting over 7,500 people.
Abbeyfield comprises over 100 independent charities with a national and global reach.
The Abbeyfield World Council brings together national representatives to share best practices and promote Abbeyfield's future growth and development.
Our journey began with a vision of companionship and support, echoing the spirit of Richard Carr-Gomm's compassionate initiative.
